The second year of announcement of the Prophethood and according to a weak narration on the sixth year he embraced Islam. On the day of embracing Islam, he heard that Abu Jahl is using unsuitable words at the glory of the Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم . Then, he struck the bow with force on the head of Abu Jahl in Haram-e-Makkah, because of which, his head was badly burst. Hazrat Sayyiduna Ameer Hamzaرضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ requested to the Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم , my dear nephew! Preach the Islam openly. Swear by Allah جل جلالہ! if somebody gives me entire wealth of the world, I will not like to remain on the religion of my nation any longer. Due to his embracing Islam, the Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم got the strength and polytheists stayed somewhat from his harassment. Later on, he migrated to Madina.
Character and Peculiarities:
He was a brave and generous and he had the soft nature and good character. He was the adventurous young of Quraish and he owned the higher status of modesty in self-respecting. The first flag which was prepared by the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم , it was for Syed-ush-Shuhada رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ . When Rasool Allah جل جلالہ و صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم sent him to Saiful Bahr area of Jhena nation along with a contingent on the second Hijrah/ in 623 AD. Ibn-e-Hasham wrote the following Arabic couplets of Sayyiduna Hamza رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ :
On the command of Rasool Allah جل جلالہ و صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم , “I was the first swordsman, who had the flag, which was not given to anyone before me.”
He was looked like a beige camel and tearing tiger on the day of Battle Uhud and he frightened the polytheists badly from his swords. Nobody would not dare to confront to him. He killed thirty one polytheists in the Battle of Uhud. Then, his foot slipped and he fell on his back in the valley, located near the hill of swordsmen and armor had been untied from his belly. Wahshi son of Hrab a slave of jabeer son of Mut’am threw a dagger from a short distance and he got the martyrdom. This incident occurred on Saturday at the mid of Shawwal, on 3rd or 4th Hijri/ in 624 or 625 AD. He was 57 years old at that time and as per another narration, his age was 59 years. After that, polytheists amputated his organs and belly. A woman of them took out the Hazrat Hamza’s liver and put it into her mouth. Then, she chewed it but she couldn't swallow it from her throat so she had to spit it out unwillingly. When the news of this incident reached to the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم said, “If this liver had gone into her stomach, that woman would have not entered into the fire because my Hamza has the such honor in the auspicious court of Almighty Allah, that He جل جلالہ will not enter any part of his body into fire. When Rasool Allah جل جلالہ و صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم came and saw his mutilated body, this scene was such a painful for his blessed heart that he never saw more traumatic scene than it.
The Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم said:
“O my uncle! Allah’s blessing be upon you. Until you kept on performing the good deeds, you were the great doer of the goodness and very kind with relatives. Then, his blessed body was placed towards the Qibla and he stood in the front of his funeral. Then, he intensely wept, which was nearing to the faint condition. The Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم was saying that, O Uncle of Rasool Allah جل جلالہ و صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم and the Lion of Allah and Rasool جل جلالہ و صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم! O Hamza, O doer of the good deeds! O Hamza, Detacher from sufferings, O Hamza! Defender of Rasool صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم ! as well as he also said that Jibrail علیہ السّلام came to us and told, that is written in the sky about Hazrat Hamzaرضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ ; Hamza son of Abdul Mutallib is the lion of Allah and his beloved Rasool صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم جل جلالہ و.
Hakim Neshapuri narrated by Hazrat Jabir رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ that Rasool Allah جل جلالہ و صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم said that Hazrat Hamza رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ is the head of the interceders in the Day of Judgment. Almighty Allah says, افمن وعدنا وعد احسنا فھو لاقیہ’ “With whom, I have promised, did well and he is going to see me.” Sidi said that these verses were revealed for Hazrat Hamza رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ . Allah جل جلالہ said, “یاایتھاالنفس المطمئنہ ارجعی” O soul at peace. Return to your Lord well pleased and in His good pleasure. Salfi said, it means, that he is Hazrat Hamza رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ .
The Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم shrouded him in such a piece of cloth that it would be spread on his blessed head so his blessed feet would be bare and it would spread on his blessed feet then his blessed head would remain bare. Therefore, that piece of cloth was put on his blessed head and ‘Adhkar’ (the fragrant grass) was placed on his blessed feet. He was buried on a mound where his blessed Shrine is famous now and respected mother of the caliphate Al-Nasiruddinullah Ahmed Al-Abbasi got a great dome built in 590 AH. (But alas! Najdi government demolished all the blessed Shrines on the base of their own Shariat in 1925 AH, and they built there very high buildings for themselves. We want to ask from all Najdi that constructing very high buildings and having luxuries, whose Sunnahs are these?)
Martyrs are alive:
Forty years later, when the blessed graves of martyrs were opened, then their bodies were fresh, their hand and feet would twist and the fragrance of musk would come from their blessed graves. During excavation, the blessed foot of Hazrat Hamzaرضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ go hurt from a spade. Then, it started bleeding and similarly, when the blessed hand of Hazrat Abdullah Ansari, who was the father of Hazrat Jabir رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنھما, was moved from his wound, then, started bleeding from there and when that blessed hand was placed again at the same previous position. Consequently, the blood stopped flowing.
A Regular Practice of the Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم and people of Madina:
Rasool Allahجل جلالہ و صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم said about the martyrs of the Battle Uhud, whoever visits and will visit until the Day of Judgment to the blessed graves of the Martyrs of Uhud and present the Salaam in their auspicious court so they will reply him. Fatima Khaza’iya stated, that one day, “I went to the blessed Shrine of Hazrat Hamza رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ and I said ‘السّلام علیک یا عمّ رسول اللہ’ by standing in front of his blessed grave, he loudly replied to my Salaam inside his blessed grave, that I heard with my ears.” (Hujjatullah-e-alal A’lamin, V.2, P.863)
A group of pious man listened to that voice. Whoever presented the Salaam in the auspicious court of martyrs of Battle Uhud then, they replied him. Rasool Allah جل جلالہ و صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم would regularly go to the Shrines of martyrs of the Battle of Uhud every year and said ‘السّلام علیکم بما صبرتم فنعما عقبی الدار’. Similarly, people of Madina would go to the blessed Shrine of Hazrat Hamza رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ in the month of Rajab-ul-Murajjab.
