The good fortune was conspicuous on him since childhood. When Khwajah Fareed-ud-Deen Attarرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ met the father of Maula-e-Rome رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ, at Nishapur, Maulana Rumiرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ was six years old at that time. After looking at Maulana Romeرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ , Khwajah Sahibرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ said to Sheikh Bahauddin رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ:
“Never try to ignore the instincts and the expertise of this brilliant child; he will be the son of Shariah and the moon of Tariqah in the upcoming time.”
It really happened so, as he said. With the passage of time, the words proved true as they were uttered by Khwaja Sahibرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ . The humility and meekness of Maulana Romeرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ was such an extent in the wise-western people, that a Monk, along with his companions embraced Islam by looking at his humility. Before his demise, he willed to his followers, which are as follows:
“To remain afraid to Almighty Allah, to reduce your food intake, sleep, and talk, to stay away from sins, to keep on fasting, to choose eternity in the worship of night, to leave lusts forever, to endure the oppressions of people of all kinds, to avoid the company of the neglect and ignorant people and to stay in the company of pious and modest people. The best person is one who brings benefits to others and the best conversation is one which is short and complete. All praise and the admiration to Allah, Whose excellence is the highest, and Salam upon His beloved Prophet صلّی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ و آلہ وسلّم.”
Approximately, at the age of 66 years, on 5th Jamadi-us-Thani 672 AH at the time Maghrib prayer, this great personality of Islam passed away from this mortal world and he was buried in the land of Qooniyah, which is still the center of blessings for the believers.
