Hazrat Maulana Ghulam Jilani Merathi رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ
Name and Lineage:
His lineage is as follows:
“Waheed-ul-Asr Hazrat Maulana Ghulam Jilani son of Maulana Haji Ghulam Fakhr-ud-Din son of Maulana Hakeem Sakhawat Husain Fakhri Sulemani.” His grandfather named him Ghulam Mohiuddin Jilani.
Date of Birth:
He was born in the state of Dadon, Aligarh district on 11 Ramadan-ul-Mubarak 1317 A.H. / 1900 A.D.
Acquisition of Knowledge:
His early education and training was at home. Later on, he took the admission in Jamia Naeemia Moradabad. He got the knowledge from the following, renowned Scholars, Sadrul Afaazil Maulana Syed Naeem-ud-Din Moradabadi, Hujjat-ul-Islam Maulana Hamid Raza Khan, Sadrush Shariah Hakeem Muhammad Amjad Ali Azami, Hazrat Maulana Abdul Aziz Fatehpuri, Maulana Imtiaz Ahmed Ambethvi, Maulana Syed Abdul Majeed, Maulana Abdul Hayy Afghani, Hazrat Maulana Abdullah Afghani and Maulana Syed Ameer Ahmed Panjabi رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہم .
Allegiance and Caliphate (Khilafat):
He got the privilege of the allegiance and caliphate from Sheikh-ul-Mashaikh Hazrat Maulana Shah Husain Ashrafi Kachochavi.
Character and Qualities:
He remained associated with teaching until whole life. He built the minarets of the guidance through the brightness of intellectual treasure, flowed the rivers of Islamic sciences and arts, promoted teaching department to the higher perfection and he adorned it with the higher destination of development. He was the resort of all. Renowned Scholars and Jurists became his disciple. His effort promoted the Islamic sciences and arts. People appreciate him regarding the insight of Islamic knowledge and religious services. His ideal and pragmatic personality enlivened a new life in the knowledge through the research and renewal services. In the view of his perfection of knowledge, the experts of that time gave him the title of ‘Sadr-ul-Ulama’ and ‘Sadr-ul-Mudarriseen’.
He passed away on Monday 29 Jamadi-ul-Awwal 1398 A.H/ 8 May 1978 A.D. His shrine is the resort of all in Madrasa-e-Islamia Arabia Indarcot Meerut (Hind).
