Hazrat Sheikh Syed Ahmed Kabir Rifai (تذکرہ / سوانح)
Syed-ul-Auliya Sheikh-ul-Kabeer Hazrat Syed Ahmed Kabeer Rifai رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ
Name and Title:
As-Syed-us-Sanad, Qutb-e-Auhad, Imam-ul-Auliya, Sultan-ur-Rijal, Sheikh-ul-Muslimeen, Sheikh-e-Kabeer, Mohiuddin, Sultan-ul-Aarifeen, Arif billah, Bahr-e-Shariat and Tariqat, Abul Abbas Ahmed-ur-Rifai, Husaini from father’s side, Ansari from mother’s side, Shafai by the Mazhab and Wasti by city. He was also the founder of Rifai Silsilah (spiritual genealogy).
He was born in a town called Hasan at the place of Umm-e-Ubaidah, on Thursday, in the first half of the month of Rajab (15 Rajab) in 512 A.H., in the time of caliphate of Mustarshid Billah.
Comportment and Character:
He was the perfect example of his forefather the holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم in the comportment and character. Following the Sunnah and Shariah helped him to reach the higher fame and glory in his time. He says,
”طریقی دین بلا بدعۃ، وھمۃ بلا کسل، وعمل بلا ریاء، وقلب بلا شغل، و نفس بلا شھوۃ۔“
i.e. “My way is that it should not mix the innovation in religion, the courage should overcome on laziness, deed should purify from dissimulation, (by the reason of fascination in the remembrance of beloved), the heart should be free from other engagements and the psyche should be away from the difficult situation of the lust.”
The element of social welfare overcame in his whole life. If he listened about sick person, whether he would live near or far, he went for visiting him and he would return back after one or two days. Furthermore, he would wait for arriving of the blind men so that he might carry them to their destination. When he saw any old person, he would carry him to his area.
“He passed away on Thursday on 12 Jamadi-ul-Awwal 578 A.H. in the age of sixty six years. He was buried under the dome of his grandfather Sheikh Yahya Bukhari’s tomb at the place of Umm-e-Ubaidah in Iraq, which is the resort of all.
