Siraj-ul-Hind Shah Abdul Aziz Muhaddith Dehlviعلیہ الرّحمہ
Name and Lineage:
His name is ‘SHAH ABDUL AZIZ’ and title is ‘Siraj-ul-Hind’, similarly his historical name is ‘Ghulam Haleem’. His genealogy is as follows:
“Shah Abdul Aziz son of Shah Waliullah son of Shah Abdur Raheem son of Shah Wajihuddin Shaheedعلیھم الرّحمہ.”
His genealogy goes to Ameer-ul-Momineen Hazrat Sayyiduna Farooq-e-Azamرضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہwith thirty-four connections.
Date of Birth
He was bornat the home of Shah Waliullah Muhaddith Dehlvi in Delhi at dawn on Monday in 25 Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, 1159 AH/ October 10, 1746 AD.
Acquisition of Knowledge:
He completed all the intellectual and traditional knowledgefrom his respected father and father’s khulafa. Especially of them, Sheikh Ajmal Shah Muhammad Ashiq Phalti and Maulana Muhammad Ameen,he got the religious beneficencesfrom them.He memorized the Holy Quran in childhood and graduated in all the knowledge atthe age of fifteen years.
The Arrival of the Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلمinto Taraweeh prayer:
After the completion of the Holy Quran, he recited it in the Taraweeh prayer for the first time. As soon as Taraweeh prayer completed, a person who wore an Arabic dress came and asked, where is the Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم?The people who were present there people ran and surrounded him; then asked him, what are you saying andwhat is your name? He replied, my name is Abu Hurairahرضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ. The Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم said to me, “We will go to listen the Holy Quran of Abdul Aziz Dehlvi and then, sent me to do some work so I got late. After saying that he went.

Allegiance and Caliphate (Khilafat):
He got the allegiance and khilafat from his respected father Hazrat Shah Waliullah Muhaddith Dehlvi رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ and he was appointed as the successor of his respected father at the age of seventeen years. After demise of Shah Waliullahعلیہ الرّحمہ , Hazrat Maulana Shah Muhammad Fakhruddin Dehlvi Chishtiرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ performed the conventional ceremony of ‘Dastar Bandi’(turban-tying ceremony)in the Soyam gathering (on the third day of the demise)of Muhaddith-e-Dehlviعلیہ الرّحمہ .
Character and Peculiarities:
He was tall and he had an emaciated body, wheat color, handsome appearance, rounded beard according to Sunnah as well as had the prestigious nature.He had the complete awareness ofthe apparent and spiritual sciences. He was an embodiment of knowledge and practice and the true example of ascetic and piety. He had polite nature, good manner as well as the happy moodin everything.Scholars of that time used to refer to him.Despite of the current and non-current knowledge, he had the consummate expertise in many other intellectual and traditional knowledge.His memory was very strong, that is why, he memorized the thousands Hadiths as well as Arabic couplets etc. He had the great proficiency in the interpretation of dreams and his speech was so intelligible and influential. He also had anunique personality in Jurisprudence, Hadith and knowledge of exegesis. All his supporters and opponents used to admire him. Some part of his exegesis,which name is ‘Tafseer-e-Azizi’, which is the example of its own, is still existing today. In the refutation of Shias, he wrote such a book ‘Tohfa Isna Ashriya’ and Shias Scholars are still unable to give its answer until today.He spent whole life in teachings and religious services. Particularly, he spread the beneficence of Hadithsin India. The credentials series of the most Scholars reached to him andtowards Shah Waliullah through himعلیھم الرّحمہ. There was not any science and art at that time, in which, he is not expert.
Maulana Zafaruddin bihariرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ said, “Attributes of Mujaddid were found in Hazrat Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz Sahibرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ because he was the master of knowledge, grace, ascetic and pietypersonality of the last 12th century.He was the popular Scholar around the worldand in the early days of 13th century, he was very famous throughout India. He spent his life in teaching, writing Fatawa, books, preaching& supporting of Islam and refuting the people who had the bad beliefs.(Mujaddid-e-Azam, P. 42)
Rasool Allah صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم is Hadhir & Nadhir:
Under this holy verse “وکون الرسول علیکم شہیدا”, Shah Abdul Aziz Muhaddith-e-Dehlviرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ said:
“Rasool Allah صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم is witness on you because he knows thestatus of every Muslimwhich he has,through the ‘Noor-e-Nabuwwat’ and he also recognizesthe reality of his faith.He also is aware of his obstacle,which obstructsthe development of his levels.Even, the Holy Prophetصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلمknows and recognizes his sins, faith levels, good and bad deeds and his sincerity and hypocrisy. the evidence of the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلمin the world and the Hereafter,is acceptable and obligatory in the favor of Ummah according to Shariah order.” (Tafseer Azizi, Para 2)
Note:The enemies and dissenters of Islam, Raafidis, Kharijiteand non-conformist people made many distortion into the books of Hazrat Shah Abdul Aziz Muhaddith-e-Dehlviعلیہ الرّحمہand the distortions had started in the life of Shah Sahibعلیہ الرّحمہas the Scholars explained it in their books. At the age of eighty years, he passed away on Saturday in 9 Shawwal-ul-Mukarram, 1239 AH/ 5 June, 1823 AD and his Shrine is the resort of all in Delhi.
