Name and Lineage:
His genealogy is as following:
“BAHR-UL-ULOOM HAZRAT ALLAMA MAULANA MUFTI SYED MUHAMMAD AFZAL HUSAIN RAZAVI son of Meer Syed Hasan son of Meer Syed Jafar Ali son of Meer Syed Khairat Ali son of Meer Syed Mansoor Aliعلیھم الرّحمۃ .”
Date of Birth:
He was born at Bawana village (Bihar district) in India, at dawn on Friday 14 Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, 1337 AH/ 13 June 1919 AD.
Acquisition of Knowledge:
He studied the current books of Dars-e-Nizami from Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ismail Aarvi, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ibrahim Aarvi, Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Ibrahim Samastipuri, Hazrat Maulana Mufti Abraar Husain, Hazrat Maulana Ehsaan Ali Muzaffarpuri and Sheikh-ul-Muhaddithin Allama Maulana Mufti Noor-ul-Husain Mujaddidi Rampuri (Shaarih-e-“Qazi Mubarak”) علیھم الرّحمۃ in Madrasa-e-Faiz-ul-Ghuraba, Arrah Bihar district, Shams-ul-Uloom Budaun and Jamia Razavia Manzar-e-Islam Barely. After that, he got the completion certificate from Jamia Razavia Manzar-e-Islam in Shaban-ul-Muazzam, 1359 AH/ September, 1940 AD.
Allegiance and Caliphate (Khilafat)
He became Mureed on the blessed hand of Huzoor Mufti-e-Azam-e-Hind Maulana Mustafa Raza Noori Barelviرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ in Qadri order, in Jamadi-ul-Akhir, 1367/ April, 1948 AD; and in 1372 AH/ 1953, Huzoor Mufti-e-Azamرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ granted the permission for all the Salaasil-e-Tariqat (Sufi orders) and all Wazaaif (incantations) as well.
Character and Peculiarities:
He was a great researcher, unique Mufti and was the embodiment of knowledge and cognition. His intellectual personality was simultaneously considered as a Muhaddith, exegetist, contemporary Jurisprudence, orator, researcher, writer and articulate speaker in an intellectual society and as wise and judicious personality in the practical society. His personality was a beautiful confluence of the Shariat and Tariqat. Every viewer would find a soft corner about his dignified personality in his heart. Whoever used to meet him once, he would want to meet again and again. Why would not it have happened so, that he got all these beneficence, after becoming a spiritual disciple and devotee of the blessed son of Ala Hazrat, Mufti-e-Azam رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ and receiving the caliphate (khilafat) as well. What can it be greater proof of his intellectual abilities than it, that soon after his completion, he was appointed as Mufti in Jamia Manzar-e-Islam Barely. Later on, he started teaching and he also performed his responsibility as Sheikh-ul-Hadith, Principle and Mufti in that Jamia. Along with that he also took a part in practical life. His services in ‘All India Sunni Conference’, ‘Pakistan Movement’ and particularly written services will be remembered forever.
He passed away on 20 Rajab-ul-Murajjab 1402 AH/ 1982 AD.
