Hazrat Molana Shah Hamid Raza Barelvi

 Hujjatul Islam Maulana Shah Hamid Raza Barelviرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ


Name and Lineage:

He was the elder son of Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khanرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ . His name was Muhammad, known as Hamid Raza and appellation was the Hujjatul Islam.



He was born in Bareli at his grandfather Maulana Naqi Ali Khan’s home in Rabi-ul-Awwal 1292 AH/ 1875 AD.


Acquisition of Knowledge:

According to the stunning traditions of his ancestors, he studied the current books of Islam with all the perfections from his respected father. He completed all the current books in the age of nineteen years. He was the successor of his respected miraculous father in the knowledge and practice and he had the unique ways in Arabic poetry and prose. During student life, he wrote the notes on the main Islamic textbooks such as, Khayali, Tauzeeh Talweeh, Hidayah Akhirain and Sahih Bukhari, then presented them to his respected father. Ala Hazratرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ  appreciated him by writing ‘الولدالاعز’ (my dear son). When this flower of the Raza garden started spreading the fragrance to everywhere, consequently Ala Hazrat رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ put the seal on his greatness and excellence by saying ‘حامد منی انا من حامد’ (Hamid is from me and I am from Hamid) in the presence of his renowned caliphs (khulafa).


Allegiance and Caliphate (Khilafat):

He was the Murid and Khalifah of Hazrat Makhdoom Shah Abul Hasan Ahmed Noori Marharviقُدِّسَ سِرُّہٗ and he got the khilafat in all the Salasil (Sufi orders).



Along with the good meaning, he had the unique personality in the apparent beauty. He had the clean nature and to help the students, murideen (spiritual disciples) and needy people was his peculiarity. He was the manifestation of all those qualities that it should be in a successor of Mujaddid. He fully paid the role in ‘Pakistan Movement’. He kept on expanding the mission of his respected father until lifetime and protecting the Islamic nations from all the impacts of misleading movements.



He passed away in 18 Jamadi-ul-Awwal 1362 AH.
