Hazrat Molana Hafiz Muhammad Jamaluddin Multani (تذکرہ / سوانح)
Khwaja Hafiz Muhammad Jamal-ud-Din Multaniرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ
Name and Lineage:
His genealogy is like that “Taj-ul-Asfiya Imam-ul-Auliya Hazrat Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Jamal-ud-Din son of Muhammad Yousuf son of Hafiz Abdur Rasheed علیھم الرّحمۃ.”
He was born in Multan in around 160 AH/ 1747 AD.
Acquisition of Knowledge:
He acquired the Islamic knowledge and arts from the renowned Scholars of that time. He had the superiority in learning, excellency, intelligence and shrewdness on all the students in his student life. Whoever used to debate with him, he would defeat the debate. He was the reservoir of knowledge and grace. He used to describe complicated issues in such a way that even slow-witted students would easily understand that. He had amazing expertise in the issue of pantheism (wahda-tul-wujood). He used to love the books of Sheikh-e-Akbar Mohiuddin, Ibn-e-Arabi and Maulana Jamiعلیھم الرّحمۃ very much and he liked the utmost Nafahaat-ul-Uns, Masnavi (Mathnawi) sharif, Lavaa’ih-e-Jami, Ashi’a-tul-Lama’at and Fusus-ul-Hikam. Especially, he used to love ‘Fass-e-Muhammadi’ (a chapter of the Fusus-ul-Hikam) in such an extent that if someone mentioned it in front of him, then he would be too delighted.
Allegiance and Caliphate (Khilafat):
His passion of meeting with the Murshid-e-Kamil (the perfect spiritual guide) was created and he went to the shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Rukn-ud-Din Multaniرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ in the search of that. He used to recite the Holy Quran completely on the daily basis and he would sleep by praying for the Peer-e-Kamil. Once, he was given the order to meet Hazrat Khwaja-e-Khwajagan Khwaja Noor Muhammad Mahaarvi رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ in the dream. He immediately went to Mahaar Sharif and became Murid in the Chishtiyah Nizamiyah Silsila (Sufi order).
He was extremely well-mannered. He would compassionately behave with children. He used to give the importance to console the poor people. If he went to a poor home, hence happy signs on his face would appear. He had very gentle disposition. He used to wear nice dress. These words‘اِنَّ اللہَ جَمِیْلٌ یُّحِبُّ الْجَمَالَ’ engraved on his ring.
He passed away in 5 Jamadi-ul-Awwal 1226 AH/ 29 May 1811 AD and he was buried in Multan.
