Life and Teachings:
Huzoor Hafiz-e-Millat رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ was the great exegetist, Muhaddith, teacher, author, debater and administrator. The establishment of Al-Jamia-tul-Ashrafia (Azamgarh district, U.P, India) was his greatest achievement of all. The graduated scholars from that Daar-ul-Uloom were busy in upholding the Islam as well as promoting and publicizing the ‘Maslak’ (sect) of Ala Hazratرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ from the land of India to the whole world. He was very punctual and knew the value of time. He was the habitual of doing all the works on its time. He would polish the personality of the students along with the fulfillment of their requirements and training like the compassionate and merciful father. Therefore, Raees-ul-Qalam Hazrat Allama Arshad-ul-Qadri said, “The relation between a teacher and student is generally limited to the teaching circle. But his relation’s circle with his students was so wide that the whole Daar-ul-Uloom would be fit into a corner. It was the enormous scope of his heart and thought, and his hepatic great courage that he would take many responsibility of the student who entered under his teaching circle. When students sat in his teaching place he would teach them the book and whenever he went outside of Daar-ul-Uloom, he would supervise their characters. In the case of participating into special gathering, he would introduce the excellences and peculiarities of a scholar of Islam. When any student was ill, he would treat him and in the case of falling into poverty, he would financially support him. After completing the education of any student, he had that student get the job. Even that, he would attentively solve the issues of students from the personal life of a student, his marriage, happiness and sorrow to his family issues. Whether a student remained existing under his teaching circle or in the situation of leaving after completion, he would supervise and support them like a father. That is the unique essence of Hafiz-e-Millat which became the prominent and conspicuous among the peers and contemporaries as a maker of the life.
Sadrush Shariah Mufti Amjad Ali Azami رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ said, “I found just two curious students in my life: one is Maulvi Sardar Ahmed (Muhaddith-e-Azam Pakistan) and other one is Hafiz Abdul Aziz (Hafiz-e-Millat Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz علیھم الرّاحمۃ.”
He passed away at fifty five minutes past eleven p.m. on 1st Jamadi-al-Thani, 1396 AH/ 31 May 1976 AD. His shrine is located in the west of old Daar-ul-Iqamah in the courtyard of Al-Jamia-tul-Ashrafia Mubarakpur.
