Maulana Mufti Dur Muhammad Sikandari علیہ الرّحمہ
Name and Lineage:
His name is ‘DUR MUHAMMAD SIKANDARI’ and his father’s name is Muhammad Ibrahim Lunji (late).
Date of Birth:
He was born at the home of Muhammad Ibrahim Lunji at ‘Warvai goth’ near Islam cot, Tharparkar district (Sindh) in 1939 AD.
Acquisition of Knowledge:
He received the primary education up to three classes in Sindhi language in his ancestral village. Luckily, his elder brother Muhammad Bachal Lunji admitted him in Madrasa Bhar-ul-Uloom Kanzi Memon (Umar Cot) in 1951 AD by expelling from School. He was very intelligent and hardworking student. He learnt the Holy Quran, Arabic and Persian education up to the middle level at that Madrasa. the following Scholars and teachers had appointed in Madrasa, at that time. “Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Chandio, Maulana Dost Muhammad Memon, Maulana Haji Ubaid-ul-Haq Memon and Maulana Ghulam Rasool Chajro (Dadvi) علیھم الرّحمہ etc.” He learnt most books of Arabic and Persian from Maulana Ghulam Rasool. When his teacher used to go on holidays, he would not sit idle, rather he would regularly go to Maulana Muhammad Suleman (resident of Lasbela) on foot to take a lesson because he was fond of learning education. Whereby, he was neither worry about starvation nor concern from difficulties of travel but he worried about his lesson lest it should leave. He knew the value of time, hence, he used to take another teacher’s service in the absence of his respected teacher because he would not waste his time. He used to busy in searching of the Islamic knowledge, as thirsty man searches for water. After getting education from Madrasa Kanzi Memon for six years, he took admission in the renowned Islamic Madrasa of Sindh Jamia Rashidia Dargah Sharif Pir Jo Goth in 1957 AD to get higher education. He got the beneficence from following teachers:
“Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan Hazrat Allama Mufti Muhammad Sahibdad Khan Jamali, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Allama Husain Imam Akhtar Pathan, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Allama Taqaddus Ali Khan Barelvi, Hazrat Maulana Faqir Muhammad Saleh Mehar the superintendent of Jamia Rashidia, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ali Zahri, Maulana Kareem Bakhsh Dayo Naqshbandi and Maulana Abdul Samad Metlo علیھم الرّحمہ etc.”
He got the perfection in writing Fatwa from Mufti Muhammad Sahibdad Khan Jamali and he completed the Islamic education from Jamia Rashidia in 1961 AD.
Character and Peculiarities:
He spent his life in the constant struggle because he was busy in the service of Islam through teaching and writing books. He was a successful Mudarris (teacher) and he prepared hundreds Scholars who are paying the religious services and Sunniat in the desert of Thar today. His life was so simple and he was very far from the formalities. He was an embodiment of good morals and hospitable. He would wholeheartedly respect for Sadat-e-Kiram. He would rarely deliver the speech. He would instruct to each visitor for adhering to the beliefs of Ahle Sunnat. Along with that, he would say to his Peer brothers (spiritual fellows) to stick to the sect of Imam-ul-Arifeen Peer Sain Roze Dhani رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ and to study his sayings on the daily basis.
He passed away on Wednesday at the age of sixty two years in 12th Muharram-ul-Muharram, 1422 AH/ 7 April, 2001 AD and he was buried in his ancestral cemetery ‘Warvai Goth’ Tharparkar district Sindh.
