Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan Allama Abul Barkaat Syed Ahmed Qadri رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ
Name and Lineage:
His name is ‘SYED AHMED’ and his kunyat is ‘Abul Barkaat’ as well as his title is ‘Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan’. His genealogy is given below:
“Abul Barkaat Syed Ahmed Qadri son of Syed Deedar Ali Shah and son of Syed Najaf Ali Shahعلیھم الرّحمہ.”
His ancestor Syed Khalil Shahعلیہ الرّحمہ migrated to India from ‘Mashhad Muqaddas’ and settled in Aloor state. His genealogy reaches to Hazrat Imam Musa Razaرضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ .
Date of Birth:
He was born at Nawabpura Mohalla, Aloor district, Andhra Pradesh province, India in 1319 AH/ 1901 AD.
Acquisition of Knowledge:
As he belonged to the great scholarly family, in like manner his training was completed in a splendid manner. He learnt the Holy Quran from Hafiz Abdul Hakeem a Hafiz of Aloor, Hafiz Abdul Aziz and Hafiz Qadir Ali علیھم الرّحمہ. He learnt the primary books of Sarf-o-Nahu (regarding Arabic grammar) from Allama Syed Zahoorullah and most books studied from his respected father رحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیھما. He also learned the last books of Islamic sciences from Qazi Mubarak and Hamdullah, Ufuq-ul-Mubeen, Sadra, Shams Bazigha and Sharah Aqaid Nasafi, all the books of Ahadith and medical books studied from Hazrat Sadr-ul-Afazil Maulana Syed Muhammad Naeem-ud-Deen Moradabadiعلیھم الرّحمہ in Moradabad. He got the completion certificate and turban of honor at Moradabad in 1919 AD.
Allegiance and Caliphate (Khilafat):
He got the allegiance and Khilafat from Sheikh-ul-Mashaikh Hazrat Allama Syed Shah Ali Husain Ashrafi علیہ الرّحمہ who looks like Ghaus-ul-Azamرضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ .
Attainment of the Certificates from Imam-e-Ahle Sunnatرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ :
He went into the service of Imam-e-Ahle Sunnat Maulana Ash Shah Ahmed Raza Khanرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ and he stayed in his blessed company. He kept on paying the service of writing Fatawa on the directives of Imam-e-Ahle Sunnatرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ . Ala Hazratرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ granted the certificate of all the Islamic Arts and Sciences and he gave him the general permission of Khilafat and all Wazaif (incantations) too.
Character and Peculiarities:
He spent his whole life in preaching of Islam and teaching of Arabic education and many aspiring students of Islamic knowledge gained the Islamic knowledge from him. Some of his students are such who got the fame around the world and they paid the major role to promote and develop the Maslak-e-Haq (right sect of) Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat. He remained busy in teaching for so long by staying in Agra along with his respected father. Later on, he went to Lahore with him, then he got busy in Islamic teachings. After the demise of his respected father, he was appointed as the Rais and Sheikh-ul-Hadith in ‘Dar-ul-Uloom Hizbul Ahnaf’. He already got the expertise in the current knowledge of that time from beginning. As soon as, he started teaching, the desirous students of Islamic knowledge began to come to him from remote towns to get Islamic arts and sciences in large numbers. Nowadays, most of the Scholars of Pakistan are associated with the student’s circle of him. His personality is the resort of Scholars and strong pillar of Islam in Pakistan. Despite of teaching, he also had the consummate skill in the sermons. The promotion and publication of the sect of Ahle Sunnat and the refutation of the false religions, Deobandis and Mirzais were his routines. He kept on criticizing on the Saudi temptation’s time that is related to the Najdi’s beliefs and theories in order to demolish the blessed Shrines. A Najdi attacked him with a dagger but Almighty Allah kept him secured. He challenged the Hakeem-ul-Ummat of Deobandis for the debate in Lahore but he could not dare to confront against this lion of Ahle Sunnat.
When Ala Hazratرحمۃ اللہ تعالٰی علیہ arranged to print the first volume of Fatawa Razavia, its complete reviewing and printing responsibility was given to him. He also published the initial parts of ‘Bahar-e-Shariat’ with editing. Similarly, the first edition of ‘Monthly Magazine Sawad-e-Azam Moradabad’ that is a historical magazine of Sunnis was published under his supervision.
Taking Part in the Religious and Political Movements:
He was the one of founders of ‘All India Sunni Conference’ and he effusively took an distinctive part in ‘the Movement of Pakistan’. The great procession of ‘Tehreek-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat’ Lahore was taken out under his leadership. He imprisoned for so long in the crime of loving with Mustafa and the greatness-status of Mustafaصلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وسلم .
He passed away in 20 Shawwal-ul-Mukarram, 1398 AH/ 24 September, 1978 AD and it became the unending space in the scholarly world. His blessed Shrine is at Hizbul Ahnaf Dar-ul-Uloom, Lahore.
